Main Ideas
The French Revolution began because of the unfair distribution of money in France. The Third Estate was forced to pay taxes, while neither of the other Estates had to. During the food shortage in France, none of the peasants had money to buy food, and rebelled against the king and queen because the monarchy had way more money, and spent it lavishly. This led to the National Assembly creating the Declaration of Rights of Man, which was based off of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.
Details
The French Revolution was inspired by the United States' war for independence against England. The French also took ideas from John Locke and other Enlightenment thinkers. The French based there Declaration of Rights of Man off of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, which in turn was based off of John Locke's idea of people having natural rights. The French felt that their monarchy was not protecting their natural rights, so they rebelled.
